Tiny Safari

Client Brief -
To create a cozy and cute nursery with all the essentials in a 7ft x 8ft room.

Inspiration -

To combine a love of elephants with a soft green color palate found in the fabric of a blackout roman shade the client owned.

Challenge -Finding small scale furniture that fit in the space and still provided all the necessities of a nursery. This was a task that required very specific space planning.  All nursery essentials were accounted for, so it was time to decorate.

Outcome -A pale green was selected for the walls, to coordinate with the roman shade. A crib bedding set from Pottery Barn Kids, was able to incorporate elephants, as well as tie into the pale green color palate. Pale blue, found in the bedding served as a secondary color for the room. A tree mural in this shade was painted to provide a focal point for the room, while remaining a safe piece of artwork for over the crib. The crib and dresser were chosen for their clean modern look and their adaptability. The crib converted to a toddler bed, allowing room to grow. The dresser came with a changing table platform, which could be removed for use as only a dresser. A petite glider chair was purchased, to fit perfectly into the nook of the room, and provide comfortable seating and rocking. A small bookcase was needed to store books and hold the humidifier. After an exhausting search, one was custom made for the space and painted trim white. The final details were a light blue and white rug for the floor, an elephant humidifier (of course!) and a few other elephant accessories to complete the cozy and serene safari nursery.
