Kitchen Classic

Client Brief -
To create a dining room which complimented the beautiful kitchen that came with the home.

Inspiration -
The clean and classic style of the existing kitchen, as well as the natural quality of the butcher block island.

Challenge -
Creating more storage for wine, bar essentials and table linens. To solve this challenge, I found a compact buffet piece in a dark stain with a wine rack, stemware shelves and drawers for linen. Storage was also needed to display the client's china. I sourced a white wood curio cabinet which fit perfectly in the corner of the dining room, provided an affordable built-in look, and tied in with the kitchen cabinets.

Outcome -
A reclaimed wood dining table in a similar stain to that of the butcher block island was selected. Dark brown leather chairs were chosen for seating, since they were easy to wipe down with kids and blended nicely with the dark wood floors. White wood bar stools were added to the island, purchased at IKEA.  White linen drapes were hung to keep the space bright and airy. A large white framed mirror was chosen to visually open up the room.  Finally, a gallery wall of family photos was hung above the buffet as a focal point and conversation piece at meals.
